We sailed into Dubrovnik, Croatia at 8.00 in the morning, and were about to embark on a pre arranged day tour. We were informed that the official language of Dubrovnik, Croatia is Croatian, using the Latin alphabet. The currency is Kuna.

Several years ago Nigel and I took a trip to North America and spent several weeks travelling from Southern California to Vancouver in Canada.  As a part of this trip we spent one week in Rosarito on the Baja Peninsula in Mexico.

We decided to make this trip a little different and our travel from Anaheim to Rosarito didn’t follow the usual tourist route.  We boarded an Amtrak train at Anaheim Station for the two hour trip to San Diego – this was nothing out of the ordinary except,  after some extravagant shopping in LA we now had a total of nine pieces of luggage.  On the train this didn’t pose a problem but at San Diego we transferred to the tram which would take us to the border at Tijuana.  This part of the journey took well over half an hour and, as the tram was very crowded, we had to stand the entire time – balancing our entire luggage and trying not to inconvenience other passengers.  Most other people on the tram gave us odd glances wondering just what we were up to.  Still, we arrived at the border safely and got of the tram with all our bags still intact.
